Katy Perry: http://www.joecrazy.com/katy-perrys-7-outfits/
Recently, I have overheard plenty of people debating whether or not Kimbra is similar to Katy Perry. Kimbra is new to the U.S. and sings "Settle Down" and "Somebody That I Used To Know" with Gotye. Katy Perry has pop hits that America fell in love with immediately like, "Hot N Cold" and "Waking Up In Vegas." Obviously, several different comparisons and contrasts exist for the two talented females. They both have well-developed, easy-to-listen-to voices. Also, they are both pretty attractive and have interesting style.
Still, I feel their differences outweigh their similarities. Katy Perry is known more for her wild side, being promiscuous and singing about having parties. Kimbra seems to be more down-to-earth and not as flashy. Both singers have varying styles; it just depends what you like.
A close friend of mine thinks the two singers have similarities in their voices and the way they sing. Personally, I feel they are each so unique that their voices are very different. The only similarity I find with their linguistic styles is that Kimbra and Katy Perry both enunciate their vowels the same way. Otherwise, each singer's singing style reflects her own personal style.
In my opinion, I respect Kimbra as a singer more than Katy Perry. Kimbra seems to have more artistic value, as shown in her music videos. Katy Perry tends to follow the spot light, but still does her own thing. I enjoy listening to both musicians' music, but Kimbra has definitely won me over.
